Rendering
A gallery of computer renderings exploring various techniques.
CAD Tools
Various other tools I use and explore.
Future CAD
What do I want my tools to be like in the future?
Automated Manufacturing
Robotic manufacturing and 3D printing can do a lot for the future of architecture. A lot of it has been explored and researched at length, still there are many practical obstacles to overcome. Some thoughts based on experiences gained from working at Unto This Last, programming and writing tools for CNC machines, and my time at Alsop working on facades, talking to Cladding engineers about manufacturing methods.
Information Modeling
How does one deal with the very large sets of information produced in architectural projects? Are there perhaps better ways to view and investigate the vast number of relationships between building elements and timelines? What about methods used in software architecture to model projects on a meta-level using tools like UML prior to engineering the actual software?
Self-Similarity
Almost nothing in nature is exactly alike, but many elements are highly similar. Why then should what we build be so alike? Here some explorations of L-systems and a bit about the facade of the Fourth Grace project.
Weaving & Knitting
Weaving. knitting and basket making has fascinated me for some time. Some open ended ideas on how it could be used/done on different scales
Mountain bike track
Mountain Biking
Building for fun: Entertain myself and my friends building big jumps and crazy wooden roller-caster rides in the forest. The project is a testing ground for photogrametry-based site survey and scripted little CAD toys. This project was never "finished" but that was not the intent, it was a project driven by process rather than goal, a continuous exploration where making matters more then result.
Playchitecture
Playchitecture
An Idea for a book about spontaneously built structures to augment and alter our surroundings to allow us to play and imagine. It started with my fascination for how much time and effort young people are willing to spend on building things who's only purpose is entertainment. It now extends to all things built for the sake of play, from the ingenuity of the simplest little arrangement of pillows in the living room to complex wooden structures of the mountain biking crowd on the northern shores of the Vancouver bay (or west Sweden).
Strawbale house
Parametric Straw-Bale House
I am fascinated by building complex forms from simple materials using simple processes. This is a project to develop flexible parametric models to build cheap straw-bale buildings using local materials. I want to combine parametric CAD tools with fundamental craftsmanship to come up with site-specific generative structures that can be build quickly and by a team of non-specialist people. Work together with two architects who have done considerable research on building timber-framed straw-bale and mud houses.
