Born in Norway in 1972. Grew up in Sweden.

An early fascination by the experiences and environments created for theatre led me to start designing costumes and sets. This led on to working with metal as well as creating events and experience-spaces for people. I worked as a freelance creative director and project manager between 1995 and 2002. D…

I joined Alsop Architects with the ambition to apply my computer skills to large scale architecture but also to be a part of a larger team and not have to work so much in isolation.

The main project I worked on was the Fourth Grace of Liverpool.

The scheme consisted of 3 parts. The Hill; housing a museum, retail space and parking. The Cloud; three floors of hotel, three floors of offices and the 'Garden of Liverpool', an indoors garden at the top. The Tower; a residential tower with 550 apartm…

Robotic manufacturing and 3D printing can do a lot for the future of architecture. A lot of it has been explored and researched at length, still there are many practical obstacles to overcome. Some thoughts based on experiences gained from working at Unto This Last, programming and writing tools for CNC machines, and my time at Alsop Architects working on facades, talking to cladding engineers about manufacturing methods.

[Blackboard]

My all time favorite design tool: Blackboard! Collaborative, fast, cheap, Infinitely variable... what more can one ask for?

Extending this concept using interactive whiteboards and 3D models we get the basis for the I-room setup used at CIFE.

What do I want my tools to be like in the future?

Context Aware

Why can't my system be aware of its surroundings? The machine has no understanding of 'place' or 'time', on relationship to the context of what we are trying to create. The machine tools should be focused on doing what they do best and ought to be able to do so in the context of what is being developed. It should be my window on what is not yet built. I want to be able to go down to the ocean and start working on a project that …

Are there perhaps better ways to view and investigate the vast number of relationships between building elements and timelines? What about methods used in software architecture to model projects on a meta-level using tools like UML prior to engineering the actual software?

The project was a collaboration my brother Hannes. I did most of the spatial design and over all concept development while Hannes focused more on detail and texture. It was our first major individual project.

This was a small experiment done in 04 on how to use photogrammetry to quickly build a site model to adapt a 3D model so as to minimize waste and maximize site adaptivity. the whole project took about a week from start to finish.

Tussilago, a small film production company wanted a space where they could work and experiment with their ideas.

The existing space invited a lot of movement/motion. Using chalk we spent a lot of time together with the client drawing on the floor and acting out the imagined space. Considering the clients background this worked quite well. From this body of work the flowing lines that served as a foundation for the walls were developed.
